Community History, Right at Town Hall!
The Town of Roseboro is proud to have a community display of historical artifacts/publications about Roseboro through the years. Informally dubbed the "Roseboro History Museum," this archival collection was created due to the efforts of Small Town Main Street Director Tyler Wise and community volunteer Brenda Williams. Together, they compiled an astounding collection of historical memorabilia, and have placed it on display for the entire community to enjoy.
On the creation of the museum, Tyler Wise notes the importance of Roseboro's history to its residents. "The museum in Town Hall is a true representation of the Roseboro that everyone remembers and that we are striving to get back to. Through the artifacts we highlight how Roseboro was a melting pot and the home of many firsts for Sampson County," says Wise.
Volunteer and longtime Roseboro resident Brenda Williams explains that "the artifacts and pictures highlight the rich heritage of the town from the days when the railroad was laid in the late 1890's up to the current day." To Brenda Williams and many other Roseborians, the Town's rich history and many artifacts are worthy of proper stewardship and display for years to come. "These items illustrate the story of the town, its people, businesses, and organizations," says Williams.
There is no better way to get to know Roseboro than stopping by Town Hall to check out the Roseboro History Museum. Located in the Board Room, the display cases are accessible all hours that Town Hall operates. We encourage you to check out the "locally found, made, or preserved items from Roseboro's earliest days," as Brenda Williams describes, at the museum!
